Solutions Architect

Voyager is looking for a driven, creative and passionate System Architect to work on implementation of custom, enterprise solutions that use Voyager and other technologies. The world is seeing an explosion in the amount and variety of location-based information and at the same time, enterprises have mass amounts of existing data with limited ways to organize and view that data. Voyager Search is at the intersection providing software for enterprise search, cataloging, retrieval and use of data. Voyager is a nimble, growing Software Company focused on bringing the best enterprise open source geospatial software to enterprises around the world. Voyager was founded and built by leaders in the GIS and the Lucene/Solr communities. The Public Data Site will reference topical and valuable geospatial content so that this information becomes discoverable by Voyager users, the general public and other search engines. It will also be the premier demonstration of Voyager’s capabilities

The ideal candidate should be a motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently to find solutions and get answers to a client’s questions. You should be a clear communicator who can relay information verbally and in writing to your peers and customers and should be a sleuth who can find problems with an installation and the myriad complexities that can exist in enterprise software implementations. You should be an expert user of GIS software and have the programming experience to develop prototypes for the purpose of answering design questions. When necessary you should have the programming acumen to evolve those prototypes into production systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Working on site with the customer and system integrators to execute the client’s vision for an enterprise search solution that uses Voyager at its core.
  • Using Voyager to create an index of the customer’s data and maintain that index on an on-going basis.
  • Explaining to the customer, fellow developers and integrators how Voyager works. Providing coaching or training to help these novices become master users of the software.
  • Identifying, defining and documenting enhancements or bugs in the software and advocating on the clients’ behalf for these solutions to be implemented.
  • Supporting customer’s migration to the cloud as well as serving as an advisor to Voyager’s internal development team on best practices for delivering cloud solutions

Requirements:

  • Bachelors in geography, computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Java, C++, .NET, JSON, XML
  • Experience working with customers, defining solutions, presentations & demos to support sales operations
  • Experience in reading requirement documents, designing systems, and writing technical requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of cartographic principles, image processing and GIS software, especially the ArcGIS desktop and server platform
  • Strong software debugging, testing and problem solving skills
  • Experience with Amazon’s cloud computing framework, along with Cloud Foundry
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and holder of a TS/SCI security clearance
